Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 2026  Ã‚·  We keep this minimal. No tracking, no ad cookies.

We know "cookie policy" sounds dry. But cookies are how websites remember things — and we think you deserve to know exactly what we remember, how, and why.

The short answer: we use very few cookies, only for things that make your experience better, and we never use them to track you across the web or sell your information to advertisers.

🍪

No advertising cookies. No cross-site tracking. The cookies on empiretech.co.ke are strictly functional — they keep your session secure and remember whether you've accepted this notice. That's it.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They're stored in your browser and can be read back by the website on subsequent visits.

Cookies can do useful things — like keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, or preventing your contact form from being submitted twice accidentally. They can also do less useful things, like tracking you across dozens of websites to build an advertising profile. We only do the useful kind.

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies for two straightforward reasons:

  • Security: To protect our contact forms from Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks — a technical exploit where a malicious website tricks your browser into submitting a form on our site without your knowledge.
  • Your preferences: To remember that you've accepted our cookie notice, so we don't keep asking you every time you visit.

We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioural tracking, or social media profiling.

3. The Cookies We Use

Here's a complete, honest list of every cookie we set:

✅

No analytics cookies currently active. We are evaluating privacy-respecting analytics tools (such as Fathom or Plausible, which don't use cookies at all). If we introduce any new cookies, this policy will be updated in advance and you'll be notified through the cookie consent banner.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some content on our website is served by third-party providers. These may set their own cookies independently of our control:

  • Google Fonts — we load the Inter typeface from Google's font delivery network. Google may log the request (IP address, browser type) for font delivery purposes. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Note: Google Fonts itself does not set tracking cookies — it's a CDN request, not an advertising product.
  • Bootstrap CDN — we serve Bootstrap CSS locally from our own server, so no third-party CDN cookies are introduced here.

We minimise third-party dependencies and periodically review them. If you identify any unexpected third-party cookies on our site, please let us know.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have full control over cookies on your device. Here's how to manage them in popular browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari (Mac/iOS): Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies and site permissions

You can choose to block all cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or delete existing cookies at any time. Most browsers also support "private" or "incognito" mode, which prevents cookies from being stored after your session ends.

For a comprehensive cookie opt-out tool, you can also visit youronlinechoices.com.

6. What Happens If You Disable Cookies

If you block or delete cookies:

  • CSRF cookies disabled: Our contact form will not work correctly, as the security token can't be set. You may see a form submission error. You can still reach us by email or phone.
  • Session cookies disabled: This affects very few visitors; session state is only used in specific interactive flows.
  • Preference cookies disabled: The cookie consent banner will reappear on every visit, as we can't store your acceptance decision.

Disabling cookies does not prevent you from browsing our website, reading about our services, or accessing our content — it only affects interactive features.

When you first visit our website, a small banner appears at the bottom of the screen asking whether you accept our use of cookies. Clicking "Accept All" gives us consent to set the functional preference cookie (the CSRF and session cookies are strictly necessary and don't require consent under most privacy laws, including the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019).

You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your cookies in your browser settings. The banner will reappear on your next visit.

Strictly necessary cookies (CSRF, session) are exempt from consent requirements under applicable law, as they are essential for the website to function securely.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

If we introduce new cookies — for analytics, performance monitoring, or any other purpose — we will update this policy before doing so and notify you through the cookie consent banner on your next visit. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
